Technical depth without hiding the decision.

I’m Ryan Tracey, a network, cloud and infrastructure solutions architect. CompassRCS is my contracting practice for work across networking, cloud and infrastructure.

I think in systems and show my working.

I keep the technical detail close enough to test the decision properly. That means establishing the real constraint, making trade-offs visible and staying involved through delivery.

I work directly with technical teams, leaders and suppliers. The aim is clear ownership, practical delivery and an outcome the next person can support.

Synextra Ltd. - Technical Services Director

Architecture and delivery owner for an Azure estate of ~2,000 VMs and ~8,000 users across legal, banking and insurance. Built the landing zone standard from scratch to the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework; scaled the technical team from 3 to 12.

  2. 2021 - 2022

Delivered multi-site Fortinet Secure SD-WAN and cloud networking, specialising in FortiGate network virtual appliances on Azure. Authored a 15-site SD-WAN design covering MPLS migration and AWS integration.

  3. 2017 - 2021

Synextra Ltd. - Head of Technical Services

Network architect for the ISP platform: took the core from two default-routed routers to a full-mesh four-site MPLS network with real transit and peering. Led the technical implementation of ISO 27001.

  4. 2012 - 2017

M24Seven (formerly Metronet UK) - NOC Engineer to Network Engineer

Progressed through NOC, service desk management and complex MPLS customer deployments - the foundation everything after it was built on.

Need a senior engineer inside a difficult piece of work?

Bring the problem, environment and timing. I can work out whether there is a useful fit.
